Lump-sum taxation

For wealthy individuals, who are not Swiss citizens and don’t work in Switzerland, it’s possible to negotiate a “lump-sum” tax agreement. This equates to a fixed tax p.a. computed on the base of living expenditures.

For some countries with which Switzerland has Double Tax Treaties, taxpayers subject to lump-sum taxation are not entitled to claim for its conventional benefits.

Foreign nationals can choose to be taxed also with the ordinary procedure upon arrival in Switzerland. If opting for the expenditure based taxation they can switch at any time to the ordinary one but the reverse is not possible.
